Configure the scales in Matrix & Rating Scale questions

Rating scale and Matrix questions allow you to configure the scales to best suit your question. 

1. Go to the Study Builder tab of your study.
2. Click the Study icon in the menu on the left.
3. Choose the Questionnaire you'd like to edit.
4. Hover over the question to edit.
5. Click the Edit Question icon.
6. Configure the available settings.
7. Click Save.

Available settings and compatibility

Scale Type

• Choose one of the following:
  • Numeric 
  • Customized
  • Rating Stars
• Available for:
  • Matrix (One Answer per Row)
  • Rating scale – One Answer (Horizontal)

Scale Points

• Define the range of the scale, -3 to 10.
• Available for:
  • Rating scale – Semantic Differential Scale
  • Only for Number scale type:
    • Matrix (One Answer per Row)
    • Rating scale – One Answer (Horizontal)

Number of Labels

• You can:
  • Choose the number of labels (up to 7)
  • Name the labels
• Available for:
  • Matrix (One Answer per Row)
  • Only for Customized scale type:
    • Matrix (One Answer per Row)
    • Rating scale – One Answer (Horizontal)

Predefined scale points labels

• Use predefined label pairs for the end points of the rating scale or use your own.
• Available for:
  • Matrix (One Answer per Row)
  • Rating scale – One Answer (Horizontal)
  • Rating scale – Semantic Differential Scale

Point labels

• Use these fields to enter descriptions for the available points.
• Available for:
  • Matrix (One Answer per Row)
  • Rating scale – Semantic Differential Scale
  • Rating scale – Net Promoter Score (NPS)
  • Only for Customized scale type: Rating scale – One Answer (Horizontal)
