Make a question mandatory
Make questions mandatory so participants can't skip them or continue the study unless they answer.
- Go to the Study Builder section of your study.
- Select the Task/Questionnaire and choose the question you'd like to edit.
- When the question opens, hover over it to see edit options on the top right.
- Click Edit Question
.
- Under Mandatory Options, click the radio button for Mandatory to Answer.
- Click Save.
Options for specific question types

Choice-Multiple answers questions allow you to set the number of choices participants select:
- At least
- At most
- Exactly X

Screenshot Click Testing questions allow you to set the number of clicks required:
- At least
- At most
- Exactly X

Video Questions have these options:

Non-Mandatory (Video or Open Ended)
- An optional question that is completed by recording video or answering the question through an open ended question.
- The open ended question displays when:
- A participants device doesn't have a camera
- They didn't give permission to record video or audio.

Mandatory (Video or Open Ended)
- The question is completed by either recording video or answering the question through an open ended question.
- If a participant's device doesn't have a camera, only the open ended question is displayed.

Mandatory to Answer (Video Only)
- The question can only be completed by recording the video.
- The question is skipped when:
- A participants device doesn't have a camera
- They didn't give permission to record video or audio.
