About Timeout Tests
- Use Timeout Tests to show participants a screenshot of a website page or prototype for a defined number of seconds.
- Then ask follow-up questions about their first impression or understanding of the content they saw.
- There is no recording during these tasks.
- Whole study recording can be enabled to record the task.
Add the image
- Go to the Study Builder tab of your study.
- In the left menu, click Study .
- Go to the Timeout Test Test task or edit an existing Screenshot Timeout question.
- Scroll to Settings > Screenshot.
- Click Add Image.
- In the modal window, choose to:
- Select an image previously uploaded to the multimedia center.
- Upload a new image.
- Click Save.
Set exposure time
In a Timeout Test task or Screenshot Timeout question, set the exposure time (2 to 60 seconds) for participants to view the image.
- Go to the Study Builder tab of your study.
- In the left menu, click Study .
- Go to the Timeout Test Test task or edit an existing Screenshot Timeout question.
- Scroll until you get to Other Options.
- Click the Exposure time drop-down.
- Choose a time from 2 to 60 seconds.
- Click Save.
Show/hide the countdown
- Go to the Study Builder tab of your study.
- In the left menu, click Study .
- Select the Timeout Test Test task or edit an existing Screenshot Timeout question.
- Scroll to Other Options.
- Choose an option:
- Show countdown: Check the Show countdown in taskbar box.
- Hide countdown: Uncheck the Show countdown in taskbar box.
- Click Save.
Other settings
- Add a description.
- Make the task/question optional or mandatory.
- Enable/disable auto-next.
- Change the taskbar position.
- Add a start task button.
- Add a questionnaire before and/or after the task.
