About adding instructions in the Taskbar
✅ Plan Availability: All plans
- In all Navigation tasks, participants see the Taskbar with instructions in the Navigation window below the prototype or website.

In Advanced UX Research studies, show participants the Task Description Page before the Navigation task starts to give:
- A clear and concise explanation of the context
- The objective
- Relevant details of the task
- The Task Description Page is shown by default but you can choose to disable it.
Pro Tips
- Try to keep instructions below three lines of text. This makes sure participants won't have to scroll.
- There is a 500 character limit for the instructions.
Add instructions in the Taskbar
✅ Plan Availability: All plans
- The Taskbar is visible to participants during the task.
- Include instructions to complete the task and information that might be needed (For example, username and password.
- The Taskbar is a reminder of the intentions of the task.
- Keep the instructions short and specific.
To add instructions to the taskbar, follow these steps:
- Go to the Study Builder section in your study.
- Click Study
in the left menu.
- Go to the Navigation task. For Advanced UX Research studies, stay on the Settings tab.
- Scroll to the Taskbar section.
- Enter the description in the Taskbar Description field.
- Check the Show "Read More" link to view the Task Description Page box (Optional only for Advanced UX Research).
- This shows participants a Read More link in the Taskbar.
- The link leads back to the Task Description Page to review the description of the task.
- Choose one of the UZ Taskbar types and configure where to send participants depending on the button they click.
- Click Save.
Configure the Task Description page

➕ Plan Availability (when purchased separately): Essentials
- In Advanced UX Research studies, participants see the Task Description Page before the Navigation task starts.
- Use this page to give information and context about the upcoming task.
To configure the Task Description page, follow these steps:
- Go to the Study Builder section in your study.
- Click Study
in the left menu.
- Go to the Navigation task and stay on the Settings tab.
- Enter the description in the Taskbar Description field.
- Click Save.
Show/Hide the Task Description page before a Navigation task
✅ Plan Availability (included): Professional, International, and Premium
➕ Plan Availability (when purchased separately): Essentials
- The Show Task Description Page when starting the task option is available for Navigation tasks.
- When enabled, participants see the Description Page before starting the task (where they see the Navigation Window and Taskbar).
To show or hide the Task Description page before a Navigation task, follow these steps:
- Go to the Study Builder section in your study.
- Click Study
in the left menu.
- Go to the Navigation task and stay on the Settings tab.
- Check or uncheck the Show Task Description Page when starting the task box in the Task Description area.
- Click Save.
