Add an Other field as an answer

Use these steps to add the Other field as an answer.

About the Other field in questions

  • Adding the Other field allows participants to respond with an open-ended answer that hasn't been predefined.
  • This option appears under your predefined answers.
  • The Other field is available for these questions:
    • Choice - One Answer
    • Choice - One Answer (Drop down)
    • Choice - Multiple answers
  • The Other field has a maximum of 3000 characters.

 

 

Add the Other field to a new question

  1. Go to the Study Builder section in your study.
  2. Choose the task/questionnaire.
  3. Add one of the following question types:
    • Choice - One Answer
    • Choice - One Answer (Drop down)
    • Choice - Multiple answers
  4. Enter your answers.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the New Question window.
  6. Click the checkbox next to Include “Other” field with an open ended line. Please insert answer text:.
  7. Enter custom text text in the new text box that opens below Include “Other” field with an open ended line. Please insert answer text:.
  8. Click Save.

 

 

Add the Other field to an existing question

Remember, adding the Other field is only available for these questions types:

  • Choice - One Answer
  • Choice - One Answer (Drop down)
  • Choice - Multiple answers

 

To add the Other field to an existing question, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Study Builder section in your study.
  2. Choose the task/questionnaire.
  3. Hover over the question you want to edit to reveal your options.
  4. Click Edit edit_question_icon.jpg.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the overlay window
  6. Check the Include “Other” field with an open ended line. Please insert answer text: box.
  7. Enter the label for this field (For example, Other, Other Answer, etc).
  8. Click Save.
