Use these steps to randomize answers in a question. Randomization shows answers in a different order to each participant and helps to eliminate order bias.

Randomize answers in a question
- Go to the Study Builder tab of your study.
- In the left menu, choose the questionnaire.
- Hover over the question, to reveal the menu options.
- Click Edit question .
- Under Randomization Options, choose how to randomize:
- No Randomization: Answers show in the order they were entered.
- Randomize all the Answers: Answers show in random order.
- Randomize Answers from ... to ...: Your defined range of answers shows in random order.
- Click Save.
Randomization in Tree Test tasks or Tree Testing questions
For Tree Testing questions and Tree Test tasks you can randomize the nodes within a tree:
- Go to the Study Builder tab of your study.
- In the left menu, choose the questionnaire.
- Go to the Tree Test task or edit an existing Tree Testing question.
- Under Randomization Options, choose how to randomize:
- No Randomization: Nodes in the tree are shown in the order they were entered.

Randomize along with its sub-options:
- First Level only: Randomizes only the nodes in the first level (parent categories).
- Sub-Levels only: Randomizes only the nodes within the second level and below.
- First Level and Sub-Levels: Randomizes the nodes at all the levels.
- Click Save.
