About the Slack integration

  • UserTesting is integrated with Slack, the productivity chat application.
  • Use Slack to:
    • Receive updates about UserTesting tests.
    • Share UserTesting tests, sessions, clips, and highlight reels to private and public Slack channels.
  • When creating a test, select a Slack channel to receive instant updates, including when a test has been launched and when it is completed.

Enable the Slack integration

  • To enable the Slack integration, you must be a UserTesting Admin.
  • Make sure you are logged into Slack on your web browser.
  • You must be on the web browser version of Slack, not the desktop app, to enable the integration.

To enable the Slack integration, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Settings, then the Integrations tab.
  2. Click the Connect button for Slack.
  3. If you are the first in your organization to enable the Slack integration, you'll see a message directing you to contact your administrator to install the UserTesting app for Slack.
  4. In the authorization modal, choose a channel where notifications from UserTesting can be sent.
  5. Click the Allow button.
  6. You're done! You can now share UserTesting videos to the Slack channel you select.

Share UserTesting results in Slack

  • You can only share videos, clips, or highlight reels via the Slack feature in the UserTesting video player.
  • If you want to share whole studies, including affiliated sessions, you can only share by pasting the URL directly into Slack.

To share UserTesting results to Slack, follow one of these steps:

From the video player

  1. Go to the video player of the session you want to share.
  2. Click the Share icon and choose Share.
  3. Type the Slack channel name where you want to share the video.

From the Sessions tab

  1. Click the Share button and choose the Slack channel where you want to share the test.
  2. To share an individual session to Slack, click the Actions button next to the session and choose Share video.

From the Test launch page

  1. Click the Notify button.
  2. Type the Slack channel name where you want to notify team members about the test results.

Unfurl UserTesting links

  • When you paste the UserTesting URL in Slack, details "unfurl” to automatically display the test name and other pertinent information with members of that channel.
  • This provides a summary of the content so that they understand what they are viewing before clicking on the link.

Disable the Slack integration

  1. Go to Settings, then the Integrations tab.
  2. Click the Disconnect button for the UserTesting Slack app.
