About Insights Assistant for Atlassian

UserTesting Insights Assistant for Atlassian is designed to help teams working across Atlassian products by providing insights and recommendations based on past research within UserTesting.

Some key capabilities include: 

    • Answering questions: Retrieves historical testing data from UserTesting to answer questions about user feedback, behaviors, and trends.
    • Providing insights: Offer insights for improving user experience by analyzing trends and themes.
    • Competitive analysis: Delivers competitive analysis based on available research and data.
    • Linking insights: Links insights to relevant Jira issues or Confluence pages for better context and actionability.

 

Set up Insights Assistant

To get started using Insights Assistant:

  • Must have an Atlassian Cloud (JIRA & Confluence) subscription, including an Atlassian Rovo subscription.
  • Requires Flex Advanced or Ultimate and Insights Hub subscriptions with UserTesting.
  • Insights Assistant is unavailable to customers who have opted out of generative AI.



Step 1:
UserTesting Account admin enables the Insights Assistant in UserTesting

  • Navigate to the Integrations Settings page
  • Under External Apps section at the bottom of the page, enable the Integration for the Account

Note: You’ll need admin permissions in Rovo to enable the integration.

 

 

 


Step 2: Atlassian Admin enables the Insights Assistant in Atlassian RovoUser enables UserTesting Rovo Agent from Atlassian marketplace.

 

 


Step 3: Users access the Insights Assistant

  • Open your Atlassian Rovo Chat window






  •  Browse Agents



 

 

  • Select UserTesting Insights Assistant

 

Step 4: Users authenticate to their UserTesting account from the Insights Assistant

  • After launching UserTesting Insights Assistant, initiate a chat with the agent.
  • First step is to provide the agent consent to access your UserTesting account. User will be prompted to provide consent when asked.

 

  •  Grant permissions to allow Insights Assistant to retrieve and process your UserTesting research data.

 

 


Step 5: Select the UserTesting Workspace you’d like to use

  • Ask the agent to list workspaces
  • Tell the agent which workspace to use for the following questions




 
Step 6:  Users start using the Insights Assistant







Step 7:
Use a JIRA issue or a Confluence document as context.


 

 

Tips for using the Insights Assistant 


Be specific with your questions

  • To get the most accurate answers, ask specific questions about your research data.
    • Good: “What do participants think about the new onboarding process?”
    • Less Helpful: “What are the results?”

Explore follow-up questions

  • Build on previous answers by asking follow-up questions to dive deeper into specific topics.
    • Example:
      1. “What are the top challenges users faced during testing?”
      2. “How many participants reported difficulty with the login process?”

Reference raw data when needed

    • When applicable, the Insights Assistant provides links to the original UserTesting sessions or reports for further review.

Product Insights

  • What are the top pain points customers have reported about [product/feature]?
  • What feedback have we received about the usability of [specific feature] in the last 6 months?
  • How do customers feel about our onboarding process?
  • What improvements do users suggest for [specific product area]?
  • What common themes have emerged from feedback on [newly released features]?

Competitive Analysis

  • How do users compare our product to [competitor’s product]?
  • What features do customers wish we had that competitors offer?
  • What aspects of our product do users think are better than [competitor]?

User Experience

  • What usability issues have been reported for our mobile app?
  • How do users describe their experience navigating [specific page/flow]?
  • Are there recurring issues with accessibility in our product?
  • What insights have we gathered about why users abandon the [checkout/onboarding] process?




Troubleshooting

Common Issues

  • The Assistant can’t find relevant data:

    Ensure the right UserTesting workspace is connected

  • Slow or incomplete responses:

    Try asking the same question again.

What types of research data can the Insights Assistant access?

The assistant can pull data from UserTesting surveys & videos. Appstore & Playstore review data and Live Conversations data will be supported in Q1 2025

Can I apply filters to narrow my search?

Filters wont be supported in the initial release

Is my data secure?

Yes, the Insights Assistant adheres to UserTesting's strict security protocols to ensure your data is encrypted and remains confidential. 

Can I use the Confluence document or JIRA issue as a context for my query?

Yes.
