About Insights Reports
- Insights Reports are poised to streamline how teams work with research data by centralizing everything into one purpose-built hub.
- This functionality helps researchers centralize archival research and compile insights into reports, improving alignment and stakeholder collaboration.
Video walkthrough
Centralizing research for better accessibility
- The primary benefit of reports is the ability to centralize and manage insights within a single hub.
- Instead of juggling multiple tools, spreadsheets, and scattered notes, teams can gather, import, and store insights from various UserTesting sources—such as customer surveys or usability tests—within one place.
- This will make managing and organizing data significantly easier, which can be a pain point for research teams working across multiple platforms.
A UserTesting Report will be created for every file you select and upload using the “Import report” button. You can import one or multiple .odt, .md, .pdf, .docx, .pptx, .odp files from:
- Your local drive
- Google Drive
- OneDrive
- Dropbox
- Box
💡 These imported reports can be downloaded from UserTesting by any user in the platform.
Efficient compilation of insights
- One of the standout features is the ability to compile insights efficiently.
-
Whether you’re trying to add insights from surveys, usability tests, or any other feedback, the new feature will allow you to add these data to reports easily.
You can create a report in three ways:
- Upload your past research using the upload flow
- Create a new report from the “Create report” button on the report page
- Add a clip, chart or any evidence to a new report using the “Add to report” button
Add a header image
You can use this area of the report to add an identifying image or branding.
Tags- Coming Soon
- Use this area to organize and categorize your research.
- Tags can be quickly added to reports, and Creator users can create new tags as needed.
- Merging, editing, and deleting tags can be done in your workspace’s Tag Manager page.
Editor toolbar
-
Add clips and highlights from across the workspace into Reports as evidence.
- Headings, bullet points, and all the text formatting options are located here.
- Include elements like tables, dividers, checklists, images, and tables of contents to enhance your content.
- When you are editing a report, you can pull UserTesting evidence into the report by using this button:
Embed external tools:
- Figma / Figjam boards
- Miro boards
- Loom videos
- Youtube videos
Sharing reports
You can control the visibility of your reports with three settings:
- Private: Only you and the Creator users you share the URL with can view and edit the report.
- Workspace: All roles (Creators and Viewers) can access the report.
- Anyone with a link: Both the report and its embedded evidence (clips, charts, highlight reels etc) will be made public to the web. Use this visibility setting to share your insights with users who don’t have a UserTesting login.
💡Note: You can disable the link by changing the visibility setting back to Workspace or Private and generate a new public link by setting the visibility to Anyone with the link again.
Export report (Google Chrome only)
- Users can export reports as PDF files for ease of sharing.
- This is possible from the ellipsis menu from inside a report which will open a download window.
- The PDF export currently utilizes the user’s browser print functionality, so you can share the content in a presentable format.
💡Note: Since print functionality varies across browsers, we currently only support PDF downloads using Google Chrome.
Presentation mode
- There's no need to build a deck, you can present your report directly from UserTesting.
-
Even if you’ve uploaded your archival research reports, you can present them too.
Collaboration with built-in commenting
- Effective collaboration is essential to align different departments and team members on findings and next steps.
- Stakeholders will be able to collaborate with each other directly within a report with our new commenting capability.
- This feature enables real-time feedback, discussion, and clarification of key points, fostering a shared and deeper understanding of customer needs.
- Stakeholders can comment directly on specific content, creating an ongoing dialogue between team members.
- For instance, a stakeholder highlighted a point in a report on the “Emotion Influence Study,” offering suggestions to improve the data visualization or requesting more context.
Availability
- UserTesting’s Insights Hub Reports will enhance how research teams manage, analyze, and collaborate on insights.
- With centralized storage, efficient report creation, and real-time commenting, this tool will speed up time-to-insight and foster more vital collaboration across teams.
