About the Slack integration
- With this integration, you can:
- Receive real-time updates when a test is launched or completed.
- Share tests, sessions, clips, and highlight reels to private and public Slack channels.
Enable the Slack integration
- Only UserTesting Admins can enable the Slack integration.
Note: Before you begin, make sure you're logged in to Slack in your web browser. The desktop app cannot be used to enable this integration.
To enable the Slack integration, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings, then the Integrations tab.
- Click the Connect button for Slack.
- If you are the first in your organization to enable the Slack integration, you'll see a message directing you to contact your administrator to install the UserTesting app for Slack.
- In the authorization window that appears, select the Slack channel where you want to receive UserTesting notifications.
- Click the Allow button.
- The integration is now enabled. You can share UserTesting results to any Slack channel you select.
Share UserTesting results in Slack
- Only the following can be shared from the UserTesting video player:
- Videos
- Clips
- Highlight reels
- To share your whole study, including affiliated sessions, copy/paste the study URL in Slack.
To share UserTesting results to Slack, follow one of these steps:
From the video player
- Go to the video player of the session you want to share.
- Click the Share icon and select Share.
- Type the Slack channel name where you want to share the video.
From the Sessions tab
- To share the full test, click Share and select the Slack channel.
- To share an individual session, click Actions next to the session and select Share video.
From the Test launch page
- Click Notify.
- Type the Slack channel name where you want to send test result notifications.
Unfurl UserTesting links
When you paste a UserTesting URL into Slack, it automatically expands to display the test name and key details. This is called "unfurling." Channel members can see a summary of the content before clicking the link.
Disable the Slack integration
Only UserTesting Admins can disable the Slack integration. To disable it, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings, then the Integrations tab.
- Click Disconnect next to the UserTesting Slack app.
