About the Slack integration
- UserTesting is integrated with Slack, the productivity chat application.
- Use Slack to:
- Receive updates about UserTesting tests.
- Share UserTesting tests, sessions, clips, and highlight reels to private and public Slack channels.
- When creating a test, select a Slack channel to receive instant updates, including when a test has been launched and when it is completed.
Enable the Slack integration
- Only UserTesting Admins can enable the Slack integration.
- Admins, remember the following:
- Log in to Slack on your web browser.
- Make sure you're using the browser version of Slack, not the desktop app, to enable the integration.
To enable the Slack integration, follow these steps:
- Go to Settings, then the Integrations tab.
- Click the Connect button for Slack.
- If you are the first in your organization to enable the Slack integration, you'll see a message directing you to contact your administrator to install the UserTesting app for Slack.
- In the authorization modal, choose a channel where notifications from UserTesting can be sent.
- Click the Allow button.
- You're done! You can now share UserTesting videos to the Slack channel you select.
Share UserTesting results in Slack
- Only the following can be shared from the UserTesting video player:
- Videos
- Clips
- Highlight reels
- To share your whole study, including affiliated sessions, copy/paste the study URL in Slack.
To share UserTesting results to Slack, follow one of these steps:
From the video player
- Go to the video player of the session you want to share.
- Click the Share icon and choose Share.
- Type the Slack channel name where you want to share the video.
From the Sessions tab
- Click the Share button and choose the Slack channel where you want to share the test.
- To share an individual session to Slack, click the Actions button next to the session and choose Share video.
From the Test launch page
- Click the Notify button.
- Type the Slack channel name where you want to notify team members about the test results.
Unfurl UserTesting links
- When you paste the UserTesting URL in Slack, details "unfurl” to automatically display the test name and other pertinent information with members of that channel.
- This provides a summary of the content so that they understand what they are viewing before clicking on the link.
Disable the Slack integration
- Go to Settings, then the Integrations tab.
- Click the Disconnect button for the UserTesting Slack app.
