Add screener questions that require contributors to do each of the following:

  • Confirm they have a smartphone and that they’re comfortable using it in addition to their desktop during the Live Conversation session.
  • Acknowledge they are comfortable beginning the Live Conversation on desktop and then joining on mobile before downloading your test app/workflow during the interview.
  • Download the Zoom app on their phone before the Live Conversation session.
Use headphones on their desktop device to prevent audio issues (e.g., echoes).

Joining a session with multiple devices

  1. Contributors start the session on their desktop after successfully screening and scheduling.
  2. Once the call begins, they can join via their mobile device using the meeting ID and passcode.
Note: Contributors must remain connected on the desktop throughout the session to avoid recording issues, but they can turn off their desktop camera if preferred.
  3. Next, contributors should open the Zoom app on their phone without signing in to a Zoom account.
  4. On the Zoom home screen, they’ll tap “Join Meeting” and enter the meeting ID and passcode.

Notes:

  • If you're using the note-taking feature, you won’t have access to the meeting ID/passcode, but contributors can still access it via their desktop.
  • Refer to the linked guide if assistance is needed to find the meeting ID/passcode.

Best practices

This section has best practices for the test and the contributors.

Best testing practices

  • Provide contributors with the link to download the app or instruct them to do so while they’re testing the workflow.
  • If needed, ask the contributor to screen-share from their mobile device, and you can ask them to perform the tasks as needed.
  • If you join the session with note-taking, you won't have access to the Meeting ID/Passcode. However, the contributors will still have access if they join on the desktop.

Best practices to share with contributors

  • Ask the contributor to join without audio on their mobile device when joining the call.
  • Mute the microphone on their phone when on Zoom to allow the desktop to record audio if needed.
  • Wear headphones connected to their desktop to prevent audio echoes.
  • Access the microphone from their desktop.
