Overview of flexible roles
- Flexible roles introduce the ability to create and manage custom roles with permissions specific to different test types.
- This gives you greater control over who can launch particular test types and tailor access based on team needs.
Creating a custom role
Follow these steps to create a custom role.
- In your Settings, go to the People tab.
- Select the Roles tab and click Create Role.
- Enter a unique role name and an optional description.
- Choose the test permissions you want members of this role to have (i.e., which test types they can launch).
- Optional: You can assign members to this role immediately or later.
Note: Each custom role takes up a Creator seat. - When you're, click the Create role button. The new role and its permissions will automatically apply to any members assigned to it.
Managing and editing member roles
There are several ways to view or update a member's role:
- From the People Page
- Locate the member whose role you want to update.
- Click their profile, and use the Role dropdown to assign or change their role.

In bulk
- You can update roles for multiple members at once from the People Page using bulk edit.
- You can update roles for multiple members at once from the People Page using bulk edit.

Editing members' roles from the roles page
You can edit existing members assigned to a custom role directly from the Roles page.
- Navigate to the Roles page from the People section.
- Locate the custom role you want to update.
- Click Edit members and use the dropdown menu next to each member's name to reassign them to a different role that fits their access needs.
Note:
- Each custom role uses a Creator seat.
- If your account doesn't have any available Creator seats and you attempt to assign a member to a Creator or Custom role, the action will not be completed.
Deleting a role
When a custom role is deleted:
- All members assigned to that role will automatically be moved to the default Creator role.
- Deleted roles cannot be recovered, so ensure the reassignment aligns with your access management strategy.
