The following is an example of the video player for a completed session. There are a number of features to allow you to view and share your video. Note that some of these features require a UserTesting Pro subscription.

Key features of the video player include:

Playback Speed

Control the playback speed of your video incrementally, from .5x  to 3.0x. This feature saves time as you review videos. We recommend giving 1.5x a try and adjusting the speed as needed based on the contributor.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts allow you to access key features within the video player without having to move your hands from the keyboard. Notable shortcuts:

• Play/Pause the video: Space
• Rewind 5 seconds: Left arrow <--
• Forward 5 seconds: Right arrow -->
• New note: n
• New clip: c
• Cancel note or clip: ESC
• Save note or clip: enter
• Increase playback speed: >
• Decrease playback speed: <

Adding a Bookmark to a Video

One way to quickly review a UserTesting video is to watch it at high speed, flag the parts that sound insightful, and then go back and compile those moments into a video highlight reel.

To make the process even easier, you can add bookmarks to your UserTesting videos. Just press the ‘B’ key while the video is playing. The video will continue playing, but that point in the video will be flagged with a blank note for basic customers (if you purchase your tests individually), and Premium subscription customers will receive a video clip that includes a transcription of the contributor’s last two comments (via speech recognition*).

Note: Speech recognition for the bookmark feature is facilitated by third-party technology. If your company has expressed concern to us about sending your UserTesting data through a third-party, you’ll receive a blank note instead of the clip.

Sharing Your Video

You have several options for sharing your video with colleagues and team members. Open the sharing menu at the bottom of the video player to get started.

Share the Video Link

When you select Share, you have the option of copying the link and drafting your own email or entering the recipient's email address and we send the link for you, or sharing via Slack.

Email Your Video

If you share via email, log-in may be required for others to view the video, depending on the privacy settings of your account and the video's workspace. In this case, a recipient who isn’t already a member of the account will be invited to join as a collaborator or viewer. See Workspaces and Video Security for further information.

Share via Slack

You can also share UserTesting tests, sessions, clips, and highlight reels to private and public Slack channels. Learn more about our Slack integration. 

Download Video

You can download the video in MP4 format.

Export to Excel

For further data analysis and insight, you can export to Excel.

Report Problem

If you’ve tried troubleshooting and are still encountering technical difficulties with the video player or with your contributor's video, report a problem to receive assistance.

Rate the Contributor

Please take the time to rate your contributors. Doing so allows us to maintain a high-quality network of test contributors.

Tip: You can report poor contributor performance by giving a one- or two-star rating.
