Logging into the Dashboard
- Upon logging into the UserTesting platform at app.usertesting.com, you'll be directed to your team's account, displaying the home Dashboard. (Consult with your team for login credentials.)
- The Dashboard lists your team's tests, including drafts and details about the creator and creation date.
- Go to View all to filter tests by status (e.g., Completed, New sessions, Problem) and creator.
- To delve into a specific test and its results, click on the test's name. Tests are organized by last updated.

(dropdown menu)Switch between accounts. Workspaces Switch between Workspaces, create Workspaces, or edit Workspace settings. Account settings Edit email preferences, add/remove/edit team members, add integrations, review your subscription, edit security settings. Tests Find a list of all launched tests on the account. Drafts Find a list of all test drafts on the account. Insights Discovery An AI-powered tool to help you spot patterns and surface themes in your tests. Reports Compile and organize insights to more easily share with your team. Highlight reels Find and create edited clips from test sessions into shareable video summaries Data Integrate external experience data from Google Play and App Store reviews to streamline the customer experience analysis process. Templates A gallery of pre-made test plans created by UX researchers to serve as starting points for your tests. Manage templates Use, save, assign, and delete templates for audiences, test plans, and screener questions created on your account. Participant Hub (New experience) Organize and reuse research participants from the New UserTesting experience across multiple studies. See Participant Lists. Contributor networks (Classic experience) Organize and reuse research participants from the Classic UserTesting experience across multiple studies. See Favorite contributors and Custom Network. Tag management Create, apply, and maintain tags across reports, tests, and clips. Folders Organize tests on your account into folders.
Reading Insight Summaries
There are two different insights views depending if you're looking at a test session from the Classic or New experience.
New experience
- To access your team's insights on a completed test, select the test's name.

Within the test, you'll find five tabs: Test builder, Audience, Review, Monitor, and Results. Each offers a unique perspective on the test's information and results.
Test builder View all tasks in the test plan. Pause the test in order to edit. Audience View all recruitment criteria, screeners, and confidentiality terms. Pause the test in order to edit. Review Preview the test or copy test links (if available). Monitor Check how many participants have accepted or completed the test. View completed sessions. Results Review the metrics and chart visualizations from the test sessions.
Classic experience
- To access your team's insights on a completed test, select the test's name.

Within the test, you'll find four tabs: TSessions, Metrics, Summary, and Details. Each offers a unique perspective on the test's information and results.
Sessions Displays each contributor's recorded video session. Clicking on a video's length allows you to view the recorded session and create clips and highlight reels. Metrics Review the data and chart visualizations from the test sessions. Summary Offers a consolidated view where team members compile conclusions and insights after reviewing contributor feedback.
Enables exporting an Excel summary sheet containing: Project team members; Observations and insights; Video clip information and tags; Contributor demographics; and Feedback categories (positive, negative, neutral).
Details Provides comprehensive information on test setup, including: Questions asked; Tasks assigned; Screener questions used; and Contributor demographic details.
If you wish to reuse the test plan, there's an option to save it as a template for your account.
Watching highlight reels
- Highlight reels are curated compilations of significant moments from test sessions, offering a concise overview of key insights.
- To view highlight reels:
- Navigate to the specific test containing the highlight reel.
- Select the Highlight Reels section within the test to access and watch the compiled clips.
- Highlight reels facilitate efficient sharing of critical findings with stakeholders, streamlining the decision-making process.

If you're the new Admin
- As an Admin, your responsibilities include ensuring team members have the necessary permissions and access to Workspaces.
- It's advisable to have at least two Admins to maintain consistent access and productivity.
- To keep the Dashboard organized as your team and number of tests grow:
- Create Workspaces to categorize tests by:
- Quarter
- Project
- Team members
- Date
- Other relevant criteria
- Establish consistent naming conventions for:
- Tests
- Highlight reels
- Clips
- Hashtags
- Example naming convention: Project Name - Research Question - Date - Lead Team Member
- Create Workspaces to categorize tests by:
- Implementing these practices fosters a scalable environment, enhancing collaboration and insight sharing as your organization expands.
