Importance of a strong Welcome Page

  • The Welcome Page is the first screen participants see when they enter a study after passing the screener.
    • Its main purpose is to give the participant a brief overview of what the study is going to be about and what to expect.
    • You can also include other information, such as the estimated duration of the study and information about the incentive for completing the study, if UserZoom is not recruiting for you.
  • Including a strong, well-thought-out Welcome Page is the first step in getting great results.
  • A Welcome Page that is incomplete, missing, misleading, or sets the wrong impression can:
    • Confuse participants
    • Cause participants to drop out of the study before taking it
    • Slow down getting results for your study
    • Give an incorrect impression of your organization
    • Decrease incident rates
  • For desktop studies, the installation of the UserZoom extension comes after this page, so if your study requires the extension to be installed, tell participants on the Welcome Page.
  • In most study types, if the Welcome page is empty, it is not shown to participants. In Basic Usability Tests and Advanced UX Research studies, it is shown even when empty.
  • In Basic Usability Tests & Advanced UX Research, if the Legal Consent Request Page is disabled:
    • The UserZoom Terms of Use and Privacy Policy are shown on the Welcome Page instead of on the Legal Consent Request page.
    • The button on the Welcome Page is labeled Agree & Continue instead of Start Study.
