Campaign: Ad series feedback (not video/audio)

  • Campaign: Ad series feedback (not video/audio) is a Quick Answer template designed to help you get fast feedback on an ad campaign for print, online, outdoor, etc. 
  • The test will display your ad series and ask participants what they like and dislike, as well as what they would change.
  • Before you use this template, do the following:
    • Create a blank, shareable document, like Google Docs.
    • Paste the ad.
    • Set the permissions to “anyone with a link can access.”
    • Restrict the permissions to “view only.”
    • Copy the shareable link to add to the template later.

 

To find the template, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your UserTesting dashboard.
  2. Select Templates from the left-hand navigation panel (under Library).
  3. Choose Quick Answers under Featured Templates on the left.
  4. Look for Campaign: Ad series feedback (not video/audio). The templates are in alphabetical order.

  5. Click on the body of the template tile to see a preview of the test plan.
  6. Select Use this template to begin filling out the test plan.

 

To use the template, follow these steps:

  1. After clicking Use this template, you will be asked to fill out the empty fields in the template.

  2. Give your test a name (this is internal only to your account and will not be visible to participants).
  3. Describe a pretend situation where the participant might see the ad. It should start with an “-ing” verb and be a simple task. For example: "shopping for a car” or “considering your vote in the next election.”
  4. Describe the setting in which the ad would appear. It should start with a preposition, like in, on, between, etc., followed by a specific location or place. For example: "on a web page" or "on a billboard."
  5. Copy the link that has your ad and paste it in the space provided in the template.
    ⚠️ Note: Make sure the page is set to view only and can be seen by anyone with the link. You don’t want a participant to accidentally change or delete the ads.

  6. Lastly, you’ll have the option to invite participants via our UserTesting Network (From networks). We have set up your audience criteria for you, so you do not need to edit this further.
  7. Click Next to be taken to the test page.
  8. Select the Tasks link to preview the tasks and ensure the wording sounds appropriate.
  9. Click Edit to make further changes to your template additions.
    ⚠️ Note: You can change only what you put in the blanks; you can’t change the actual tasks. If you need to make any additional edits, please contact your account representative.
  10. Click Launch test at the bottom of the page to send the test to participants.

  • The test will display your ad treatment and ask participants what they like and dislike, as well as rate how appealing it is.
  • Before you use this template, do the following:
    • Create a blank, shareable document, like Google Docs.
    • Paste the ad.
    • Set the permissions to “anyone with a link can access.”
    • Restrict the permissions to “view only.”
    • Copy the shareable link to add to the template later.

Campaign: Audio feedback 

  • Campaign: Audio feedback is a Quick Answer template designed to help you get fast feedback on an audio file.
  • The test will play your audio file and ask participants questions about it, including what they like and dislike, and what they would change. They'll also rate its appropriateness for the task.
  • Before you use this template, do the following:
    • Make sure your audio file is under five minutes in length.
    • Host the audio file online at a web address.
    • Be sure the web page privacy settings are set so anyone online can access it.

 

To find the template, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your UserTesting dashboard.
  2. Select Templates from the left-hand navigation panel (under Library).
  3. Choose Quick Answers under Featured Templates on the left.

  6. Copy the web address where the audio file can be played, and paste it in the space provided in the template.
    ⚠️ Note: Make sure the page can be accessed by anyone on the internet and without a password.

Campaign: Brand perception self-interview

  • Campaign: Brand perception self-interview is a Quick Answer template designed to gather brand impressions and associations from people familiar with a brand. The brand could be a company brand, a product brand, or a competitor's.
  • The test is for existing brands. To test a new brand name, use the naming feedback template.
  • Before you use this template, you'll need:
    • The proposed name
    • A very short written description of the product or service it'll be applied to

⚠️ Note: To use this template, you need to insert a screener question to make sure that your participants are familiar with the brand they'll be discussing. We'll cover the instructions in this section.

 

To find the template, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your UserTesting dashboard.
  2. Select Templates from the left-hand navigation panel (under Library).
  3. Choose Quick Answers under Featured Templates on the left.
  4. Look for Campaign: Brand perception self-interview. The templates are in alphabetical order.

  3. Describe an activity or type of product that people would usually think of when they hear the brand's name. For example, "jewelry" or "job searches." 
  4. Enter the name of the brand you're studying. For example, "Indeed" or "The Mayo Clinic."
  5. Lastly, you’ll have the option to invite participants via our UserTesting Network (From networks). You will have screeners to edit in the next section.
  6. Click Next to be taken to the test page.

 

To insert a screener question, follow these steps:

  1. On the test page, click the Select audience button.

  2. A modal will appear showing a list of audiences in alphabetical order. Scroll down until you find Campaign: Perception of an existing brand. Select it, then click Add.

  3. For device type, leave the setting at Computer, then click Confirm.
  4. Next, you will add the name of the brand you are testing. Click the ellipsis to the right of the audience, then select Edit.

  5. Scroll down to Screeners, then click the screener question to edit.

  6. Find the answer option that says "<insert brand name>." Replace the line of text with the name of the brand you want people to discuss.

  7. Click the blue Done button at the bottom to save and return to the test page. Do not edit anything else.

 

To launch the test, follow these steps:

  1. Select the Tasks link to preview the tasks and ensure the wording sounds appropriate.
  2. Click Edit to make further changes to your template additions.

Campaign: Compare two ads (not video or audio)

  • Campaign: Compare two ads (not video or audio) is a Quick Answer template designed to help you get fast feedback on two ads for print, online, outdoor, etc.
  • The test will ask participants what they like and dislike, what they would change, and which one they prefer.
  • Before you use this template, do the following:
    • Make sure your ads are displayed on two separate web addresses. They can be screenshots or drafts hosted on a system like Google Docs or Figma.
    • Be sure the web page privacy settings are set so anyone can access it without a password.

 

To find the template, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your UserTesting dashboard.
  2. Select Templates from the left-hand navigation panel (under Library).

  4. Describe the thing you're naming, including anything that makes it distinctive. Write it as a short sentence fragment. For example, "a premium dishwasher that's ultra quiet" or "a service that paints your home every year."
  5. Include the two proposed names for the product or service.
  6. Lastly, you’ll have the option to invite participants via our UserTesting Network (From networks). We have set up your audience criteria for you, so you do not need to edit this further.

  4. Next, you will add the name of the brand you are testing. Click the ellipsis to the right of the audience, then select Edit.

  • Campaign: Proprietary AI bot feedback is a Quick Answer template designed to help you understand how people react to and feel about your AI bot experience.
  • You will need:
    • Your AI chatbot at an accessible web address that's open to anyone.

⚠️ Note: To use this template, you need to insert a saved audience we created for this template. We'll cover the instructions in this section.

 

To find the template, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your UserTesting dashboard.
  2. Select Templates from the left-hand navigation panel (under Library).
  3. Choose Quick Answers under Featured Templates on the left.
  4. Look for Campaign: Proprietary AI bot. The templates are in alphabetical order.

To use the template, follow these steps:

  3. Describe the situation the participant should imagine they're in when they encounter the AI bot. Write this as a sentence fragment, like "are looking for a new dishwasher" or "want to invest in cryptocurrency."
  4. Describe the task the participant is performing when using the AI bot. Begin with a present tense verb, like "shop for a dishwasher" or "learn how cryptocurrency works."
  5. Insert the web address where your AI bot can be accessed.
    ⚠️ Note: Make sure bot can be accessed by anyone without a password.
  6. Lastly, you’ll have the option to invite participants via our UserTesting Network (From networks). You will have screeners to edit in the next section.
  7. Click Next to be taken to the test page.

 

To add your audience, follow these steps:

  1. On the test page, click the Select audience button.

  2. A modal will appear showing a list of audiences in alphabetical order. Scroll down until you find Campaign: AI bot interaction. Select it, then click Add.

Review your results

To find the results of your test, follow these steps:

  1. Go to your UserTesting dashboard.
  2. Under Tests, select the test you want to see. You'll land on the Results tab.

     

How to read your results

  • There are two parts to your results: Key Takeaway and Sidebars.
  • Key Takeaway:
    • Here you will find a one-sentence summary of how people who took your test felt. For example: "Most people chose Very appealing."
    • There is also a breakdown of how people rated the image. For example: Very unappealing, Neutral, and Very appealing.
    • Click Watch contributors to see an instant highlight reel of what people said. These videos communicate emotion and are helpful to share with your team.

    • From the bottom right corner of the video player, click the share icon to share the reel with your team.

  • Sidebars
    • Scroll down to scan themes and outliers from the test in the sidebar, like Confusion and Dislikes.
    • Click on each detail to view direct quotes from participants.
    • Click the blue play button to watch the participant explain their feedback.
    • Use these quotes to support the Key Takeaway or identify potential problems that your team should address.

How to share your results

  1. To share video highlights from the specific details, click the blue play button.
  2. Click the three dots menu by the Clip summary, then Share.

  3. Input a team member’s email, or select Copy link.
    ⚠️ Note: To share with anyone who may not have a seat on your account, make sure the link is viewable by Anyone with the link.

  4. For more detailed information on your results, click the Metrics tab. You can find quick AI insight summaries of participant actions and feedback there.
