How do I enable the UserTesting Figma Plugin?

The UserTesting Figma Integration is the foundation of our Figma plugin. It enables us to receive and send data to and from Figma, providing functionality such as success paths and heat maps. It needs to be enabled on your user account before you can use the plugin.

How do I install the UserTesting Figma Plugin?

At the Limited Release beta stage, the Plugin is not available through the Figma Plugin library. As such, you’ll need to do the following to get started: Ensure you have the desktop version of Figma installed, as it is not possible to manually install plugins on the web version of Figma.
 

  1. Download the Plugin Zip File
    • From the dashboard in the core platform.
  2. Unzip the File
    • Extract the contents of the .zip file to a folder on your computer. 
  3. Open Figma
    • Launch the Figma Desktop app.
  4. Import the Plugin
    • Open a Figma file on which you have edit permissions.

    • Right-click anywhere on the canvas
    • Select: Plugins → Development → Import plugin from manifest
  5. Locate the Manifest File
    • In the folder you unzipped, find and select the manifest.json file.
  6. Load the Plugin
    • The plugin will now be available in your Plugins menu under Plugins → Development → UserTesting.
  7. Log in and Explore
    • When you open the plugin, you'll be prompted to log in to your UserTesting account.
