About Figma

  • Figma is a design tool used to create interactive prototypes and build meaningful products collaboratively with your team.
  • When combined with UserTesting, you can collect feedback on your Figma prototypes that generates actionable insight from your desired audience.
  • There are two ways you can test Figma prototypes with UserTesting.

    • Add the Figma task to an interaction test to understand how users navigate. Follow the test set-up steps here.
    • Create a Think-out-loud test for more qualitative feedback on your prototype.
  • The FigJam integration allows you to embed and watch UserTesting clips and session videos.

Set up your Figma prototype test

Before you begin, please refer to our article about preparing your Figma prototype before you test it.

To test a Figma prototype in a Think-out-loud test, follow these steps:

  1. Click Create test, then Think-out-loud test.
  2. Choose Prototype in the What are you testing? window.

  3. Add your audience.
  4. Build your test plan.
    • Remember to include any necessary context for each scenario.
    • For example, prepare your contributors to interact with your prototype by explaining the following: “You will be shown a prototype. Please note that not all elements on the page will be interactive.”

    • For mobile tests, select the native browser requirement.

  5. Add the URL for your prototype to the task.
    • Add as many additional tasks as you need without having to include the prototype URL for each task.
    • Contributors will complete each task in the prototype URL that you initially added.
    • Only add a new URL if you're using a different prototype example.

  6. Click Preview test plan to see the contributor view and make sure your test flows as expected.
Pro tip: Preview your test in an Incognito window to make sure it can be accessed by anyone.
  7. Once you've confirmed that everything is working as intended, launch your test.

Share results with the FigJam integration

  • After your test is completed, bring your results to life by embedding clips, sessions, and highlight reels in your FigJam whiteboards.
  • Use our FigJam integration and FigJam template.
