How to Use Personalization Tokens When Building Your Own Test Invitation

When building your custom invitations, you can use personalization tokens to populate information that is unique to each contributor. This is especially helpful when you are sending out a large number of invitations to contributors and want to add a personal touch such as addressing them by name, including their username, or including the amount they will receive for completing the test.

Personalization Tokens in the UserTesting Platform 

First, select Custom Network from your Contributor network options.

To leverage personalization tokens, select Use your own email from the Audience builder page.

With personalization tokens, you can add dynamic content (web-page or email components that changes) for user data such as first name, username, and payments that you have included for any tests.

When joining a Custom Network the contributor can choose not to be paid, which means they won't be paid anything. If you use the {amount} token and the network is unpaid or the contributor has chosen not to receive payment, the {amount} value will be $0.

• Example: "This test will last around 20 minutes and pay $0."

Use the {amount} token to show your contributors the payment amount for your test, based on the network you are launching it to.

Tips for Using Personalization Tokens

• Using personalization tokens allows you to quickly add in personalized information automatically when engaging with your contributors.
• Copy and paste tokens from the cheat sheet in the app to ensure the correct format. If you type the tokens, make sure to use the correct format: {token}
• Using personalization tokens is optional, but they are a great way to quickly personalize emails especially when contacting a large number of contributors at one time.
