Keyword Map, using UserTesting's proprietary machine learning models, allows you to quickly evaluate tasks through an interactive visualization of the adjectives that participants used most frequently in their verbal responses when doing the tasks.

About Keyword map

Keyword map is available on the following subscriptions:

Flex plan Seat-based plan
Essentials Startup
Advanced ✓ (light version) Professional
Ultimate Premium
This feature is also available in the Starter edition (beta).

 

Grouping and sentiment analysis:

  • Adjectives are grouped into keyword clusters based on sentiment (positive, negative, neutral).
  • Helps identify key themes in contributor responses.

Viewing options:

  • Watch individual clips or an automatic highlight reel for each keyword group.
  • Access important moments directly from the keyword map.

Availability:

  • Applicable only to verbal tasks across all devices (web, mobile app, and prototype).
  • Non-adjectives are not included in the keyword map.

Language Support:

  • Currently available only in English.
  • German and French customers can test with English-speaking participants; keyword map appears in English, while the rest of the results page is in German or French.

Subscription Access:

  • Available on Ultimate and Premium Edition subscriptions.
  • Advanced Edition subscribers have access to a light version, including only the top three keyword groups.

 

 

How Keyword map works

If Keyword Map is enabled on your subscription, you can find it on the Metrics tab specifically for verbal tasks.

 

View the Keyword map:

  • Access the Keyword map tab to see top adjectives grouped into keyword clusters, displayed as color-coded circles above a horizontal axis.

    • Color: Indicates sentiment (red = negative, green = positive, gray = mixed/neutral).
    • Size: Reflects frequency of usage by contributors.
    • Placement: Based on sentiment; positive keywords move right, negative move left.
    • Note: Advanced edition users will only see the top three keyword groups.

 

Interact with the Keyword map:

  • Hover: View a pop-up showing sentiment for each use of the word.Screen_Shot_2022-04-12_at_3.56.24_PM.png

  • Click: Access video clip transcripts and specific moments where the keyword is mentioned, along with usernames of contributors.Screen_Shot_2022-04-11_at_4.11.05_PM.png

  • In the keyword map, the count is the total number of positive mentions. This is independent of whether it's the same contributor/word.

  • When expanding and viewing the keyword sentiment to view All sentiments, it groups them based on unique mentions.

Filter by sentiment:

Use the All sentiments menu to filter or view all sentiments simultaneously.

Validate sentiment:

  • Click on a highlighted sentiment to confirm if it’s accurate.Screen_Shot_2022-04-11_at_4.36.42_PM.png

  • If incorrect, the pop-up will prompt you to hide the keyword. Hidden keywords can be viewed again by selecting Show all keywords in the keyword map table.

Add keywords:

  • Add adjectives to the keyword map by typing them in the search bar and clicking Add. The word will appear as a new circle in the map.

  • Note: Advanced edition users do not have access to the search bar.
  • Undo Changes: Click Undo all changes next to the search bar if needed.

Individual responses:

Each verbal task also includes an Individual responses tab to watch and listen to responses from each contributor.
