About Password protected Figma prototype support
- The new password-protected Figma prototype support feature allows you to securely test password-protected Figma prototypes.
- This eliminates the need for manual workarounds and enhances the overall testing experience by seamlessly and securely managing password entry on behalf of participants.
Using Password protected Figma prototype support
- Navigate to Figma task in the test.
- Connect your prototype.
- Toggle the option that reads This prototype is password protected. The password input field will be enabled.
- Enter your Figma prototype password. This password is stored securely, and entry is automated for participants. If automated entry fails, the option to copy and paste the password is available.
- Complete the rest of the task setup as usual (task instructions, success path, scaling, and follow-up questions). The password is not needed in the task instructions.
Important notes
Desktop-only support
- Password-protected Figma prototypes are supported only on desktop tests.
- Mobile tests do not support this feature due to platform limitations.
Figma password caching
- Figma caches access for 24 hours after a password is entered.
- Participants can revisit the prototype within that timeframe without re-entering the password.
- Participants will not see the password directly, but they can copy and paste it if needed for access.
- This behavior is determined by Figma’s settings and is not something that can be adjusted within UserTesting.
Password character limit
- Passwords must be 30 characters or fewer.
- Figma-generated passwords usually meet this requirement.
- Longer custom passwords may need to be shortened before use.
Automatic password detection
- When a password-protected prototype is added and the success path modal is opened, UserTesting performs a backend check.
- If a password is detected, the password protection toggle is automatically enabled
to help prevent configuration issues.
