About transcripts

• The Transcript feature automatically turns the audio of completed tests into text.
• Transcripts are available with the following plans:
  

  Flex plan	Seat-based plan
  Essentials ✓	Startup
  Advanced ✓	Professional
  Ultimate ✓	Premium ✓

  This feature is also available in the Starter edition (beta).

• Use transcripts to:
  • Jump to any point in a video by clicking the text in the transcript.
  • Create a video clip by selecting the corresponding section of the transcript.
  • Search for keywords and jump to the corresponding portion of the video.
  • Easily copy direct quotes for reporting and presentations to stakeholders.
• To differentiate between speakers, transcripts for Live Conversations include the participant/contributor's name and "Moderator" for the moderator.

Why use transcripts?

• The Transcripts feature is a great time-saving tool for you to review large batches of videos or quickly scan through videos for insights.
• Transcripts are generated by machine-driven speech recognition and won’t always be 100% accurately captured.
• Use transcripts as a tool to improve efficiency rather than as a substitute for watching user videos.

Available languages in transcripts

• Transcripts are available for unmoderated tests and Live Conversation in these languages:
  • English
  • French
  • German
  • Spanish
    Pro Tip: To change the transcript to a language other than English, set the language filter to that language when initially building your test.
    
• Transcripts are only available in English for the following:
  • Custom Network tests
  • Fuel Cycle tests
  • Specified contributor tests
  • Video uploads

  💡Please note:Transcripts, test plans, and any verbal or written feedback from non-English tests cannot be translated into English. Also, transcripts, test plans, and any verbal or written feedback from English-language tests cannot be translated into another language on the UserTesting platform.

View a transcript

1. Select Tests in the left menu.
   
2. Choose the test you'd like to view.
3. Click Play to open the video.
4. Click the dropdown in the right menu and choose Transcript.
   

Create a video clip from the transcript

1. Follow the steps above to view a transcript.
2. Highlight the text you'd like to turn into a clip.
3. Click Make clip.
   

Navigate the video using the transcript

1. Follow the steps above to view a transcript.
2. In the transcript, click the beginning of any sentence to jump to that point in the video.
   Pro Tip: User CTRL/CMD+F to search for text in the transcript. Then click the beginning of that sentence to jump to that point of the video.
