About our partners

  • UserZoom works with a variety of customers across many industries.
  • Whether we speak with UX Researchers, Designers, Developers, Marketing, Analytics, or Customer Insights professionals, we commonly hear that they have used other UX Research software in their current role or at a prior company.
  • Sometimes our customers come to UserZoom looking to replicate what they have done up to now.
  • Below we introduce six unique capabilities of UserZoom.

1. Recreating the Think-Out-Loud

Researchers familiar with other UX research software using UserZoom for the first time often run the same study types they've used before: Unmoderated qualitative think-out-loud studies with a small sample size (usually 5, 10, or 15.)

  • The fastest way to conduct a similar study is UserZoom’s Basic Usability Test.
    • In this study, the participant's browser window and their think-out-loud process are recorded.
    • A Basic Usability Test facilitates a quick, linear task script for a website or prototype.
    • Eight different survey question types are available to round out qualitative feedback with quantitative survey responses.
    • All UserZoom desktop studies are browser-based.
    • The videos, with transcripts, are available in the Results section to create clips and a sharable link to each.
  • Basic Usability Tests allow automated recruitment from UserZoom’s qualified think-out-loud participant panel, IntelliZoom.
    • For general population recruitment, you get responses within hours.
    • Alternatively, you can recruit your own participants/users/customers via a URL.

2. Blending Qual and Quant: More data = Less time watching videos

  • UserZoom studies can provide a valuable amount of data in addition to videos you may collect from usability tasks (Navigation tasks in UserZoom).
  • When you invest time in creating a study that blends quantitative and qualitative, you get results that are faster to analyze without having to watch every minute of every video.
    • UserZoom’s Basic Usability Test enables...
      • Report task success metrics without the need to watch and annotate videos (Effectiveness) using Success/Abandon buttons.
      • Options to record the whole study while the participant completes usability tasks and survey questions.
  • UserZoom’s Advanced UX Research study type enables these additional capabilities:

3. Unmoderated session recording features in UserZoom Manager

Here are some differences and tips regarding recording for both Basic and Advanced UserZoom studies, as compared to other UX Research software:

  • Recording is optional in Advanced UX Research studies. This allows for usability studies with larger sample sizes and quantitative results, with think-out-loud not enabled.
  • Recording in UserZoom can be configured to only record participants while:
    • Being engaged with tasks on a site or prototype.
    • Answering survey questions or engaging with other methods in UserZoom.
  • Keeping this setting optional in Advanced UX Research studies helps to...
    • Keep video footage to a minimum.
    • Focus on actual interactions with the site or prototype being tested.
  • If you want participants to explain answers to survey questions, you can incorporate additional think-aloud tasks or use open-ended written responses.
  • Only the browser window is recorded, not the entire desktop.
    • This protects participant privacy (PII).
    • Desktop applications outside the browser are not recorded.
  • If you need full desktop recording, UserZoom offers special solutions for both desktop and mobile outside the default study types. Ask your Research Partner for details.

5. Dashboards: Analysis and Filtering

  • All quantitative data is presented in charts and tables.
  • Task success is a featured metric when measured.
  • You can apply filters to your results data to look for patterns in your results and save time with analysis.
  • Filtering also applies to videos. Choose to watch only videos that meet the criteria that most interest you.
  • Data is exportable to Excel.
  • Analysis tools for qualitative videos include clip creation, merging clips into a single reel, downloading videos, URLs to share clips, marks and comments, and categorization.
  • If you want participants to explain answers to survey questions, incorporate additional think-out-loud tasks or ask for open-ended written responses.
  • UserZoom provides automated word clouds for open-ended text responses, making it easier to analyze common words and phrases in responses.

6. Flexible Recruitment and Intercepts

UserZoom is a panel-agnostic solution.
