About audience recruitment in the updated experience
- Create a new audience from the UserTesting Network or recruit your own participants using Invite via link
- Combine both audiences in the same test using the + Add button
- You can use Reusable audiences based on previous criteria
- Optionally, add demographics and screener questions to further refine your audience.
Add a new audience to your test
- Select Audience on the Navigation bar.
- Choose New audience:
- Name your audience.
- Choose which audience you want to test with:

UserTesting Network: You’ll be directed to choose how many participants are needed and to toggle on demographic filters to apply.
Note: Bonus payments cannot be promised or issued. - Invite via link: You’ll choose how many participants are needed and copy the Invite link or send a QR code.

Optional steps
- Select your target criteria with demographic filters.
- Add screener questions to recruit a particular audience.
- You can have multiple audiences in a test, including both UserTesting Network and your own participants, with the Invite via link option.
Confidentiality terms
- Participant data needs to be protected, with region-specific laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) now commonplace.
- These laws mean it’s mandatory to ask participants for their explicit consent if you’re collecting any personal information (for example, their name or email).
- A default template with generic data privacy text is included. You can edit or delete this text and add secure URLs linking to your own terms. Links open in a new tab for participants.
