About screeners for surveys
- Single-select and multi-select screener questions are available for surveys for both UserTesting Network and Invite Network audiences.
- Utilizing screeners helps you to further filter participants to make sure you're gaining insights from your desired audience.
- By using a combination of both single and multiple-choice questions, you can gather additional information before the survey itself.
-
Consider your package:
-
Essentials - two questions allowed per audience
-
Advanced - four questions allowed per audience
-
Ultimate - unlimited questions allowed per audience
-
Adding screeners to your survey
- Go to Create test, then choose Build a survey.
- Navigate to the Audience tab.
- Locate Screen participants and select Add screener questions button.
- Choose the “answer type” option to build your qualifying logic: Single select or multi-select.
Single select qualifying logic:
-
Options for single-select questions include:
- May select: the participant may select this answer option and continue to move forward.
- Disqualify: the participant will not be able to take the test.
- There must be at least one “may select” answer for every question.
Multi-select qualifying logic:
-
Options for multi-select questions include “may select,” “must select,” and “disqualify.”
- May select - the participant may select this answer option and continue to move forward but is not required to select the choice.
- Disqualify -the participant will not be able to take the test.
- Must select - the participant is required to select this answer choice to continue
-
When utilizing “must select,” you have the option to require all “must select” answers (if there are more than one with this logic) are selected or only require that at least one is chosen.
-
When utilizing a multi-select question, there must be at least one “may select” or “must select” answer choice.
Screener guidance
- Automatically check your screener for common issues and get real-time suggestions on how to improve it. This helps ensure you get the participants you need for your surveys.
- The system will screen for three types of common issues:
- No “none of the above”: Suggests you add an escape option to minimize the risk of participants randomly choosing an answer
- Leading questions: Detects leading questions and suggests edits to avoid yes/no questions
- Vague or overlapping quantities: Recommends specifying the number of activities to replace answers like “sometimes” or “often
Screener analytics
- View screener analytics in the Results tab.
- Results are presented in a bar chart with a breakdown of how they responded.
- View responses in a chart or data table format that shows the count and percentage breaks of the screener responses.
