Face Recording - Beta Support

Face Recording Beta (Desktop only)

Face Recording makes it easy to remotely capture facial expressions outside of a lab environment as participants react to products, apps, and messaging–providing more context, empathy, and insight than voice recording alone.

In the video player, Face Recording and screen recording appear together so you can see participants’ reactions moment-by-moment.

  • Face Recording records participants’ reactions as they take tests using their front-facing webcams.
  • When you review session videos, you see a picture-in-picture view of the participant’s face and screen.
  • You can create clips and highlight reels that include Face Recording footage.

How It Works

To add Face Recording to your study, turn it on in the Test Plan. This has participants enable their webcams for the entire study, from start to finish.

Face Recording appears in the lower left of the video player when you review test sessions.

Currently, Face Recording is only available for tests on desktop computers. Mobile support is coming soon.
