When testing published iOS apps or apps that are otherwise unable to captured by our mobile screen recording software (due to security or technical restrictions), your participant's activity can be captured via external webcam. Webcam tests are also useful if you wish to capture the participant's full hand motions or gestures while using your app or mobile website. External webcams are pointed directly at a mobile device and do not capture the participant's face.
Step 1. Log in
Log into your dashboard.
Step 2. Create a Test
Click New -> Test.
Next, you'll be asked to choose whether this will be a Recorded Test or a Live Conversation. tests are Recorded.
Step 3. Website or App Test
Select whether you will be testing a prototype, website or an app. In this case, since webcam tests are most commonly used to test published iOS apps, we'll select Test an App.
Step 4. Select a Platform
Choose Link to app and include the link to your iOS app.
The webcam recorder will automatically be selected when you insert an iTunes link.
Step 5. Starting Instructions
Provide a scenario so users know what mindset they should have during the test.
For example: "Imagine you want to buy a gift for a friend or family member's birthday."
Step 6. Choose Your Target Audience
Indicate the number of participants you'd like for this study and indicate your demographic preferences.
Screeners are multiple choice questions participants must answer correctly before they're able to accept your test. This is an optional feature you can select if the demographic fields above do not cover your needed requirements.
Step 7. Select Tasks
Input the questions and tasks you'd like participants to complete during your test. You can alsorefer to our bank of popular tasks if you're not sure what tasks or questions to use.
Step 8. Written Questions
After participants are finished recording their session, they'll see a pop up questionnaire with 1 - 4 questions requiring a written response. You can use the default questions that are included with every test or write your own.
Step 10. Review and Launch Test
Review your test details before launching your test!
When you're ready, click Have Users Start Testing.
It's important to note that due to the small size of our webcam panel, tests may take longer than average to fill.
