The Study Launcher (Beta) is a design refresh of the UserTesting platform. The new design makes a number of improvements supporting different workflows—giving you a choice in how you are most efficient in building a study.
Here are some instructions for the New Study Launcher. These steps specifically are for creating a recorded, website desktop study with the UserTesting panel. However, the instructions can be applied generally to all other study selections.
Step 1. Start creating a study from your UserTesting dashboard. Select the New dropdown menu, then select Test to create a study.
Step 2. Make study type selections. [recorded/Live Conversation, prototype/website/app, and panel/MyRecruit].
Step 3. The LaunchPad. After selections are made, you will arrive on a screen that provides a high-level view of your study. This view is called the LaunchPad. You can start either with the participant or the test plan selection. For this example, we will begin by selecting participants.
Choose your target audience. Once you click on ‘Select Participants’, you will be directed to a page dedicated to choosing your target audience. If you have questions about choosing your target audience with the UserTesting panel, please visit this help center article to learn more.
When you have selected your participants, you will return to the LaunchPad with a summary view of your participants. If you need to make any changes, click on the edit button within the summary box.
Build a test plan. Now click on ‘build test plan’ to select tasks and questions as well as the assets you want feedback on. You will be directed to a page dedicated to creating your test plan.
You can enter the URL where you'd like your participants to start and an introduction to the test scenario. You can also create the questions and tasks you'd like participants to complete during your study. For more information on completing a study plan, please visit any of the articles in the ‘Launching a study’ section of our help center.
Step 4. Launch your study. When you have completed your test plan, you will return to the LaunchPad with a summary view. If you need to make any changes, click on the edit button within the summary box. Once you reviewed your study details, you are ready to launch your study.
