About success validation in Navigation tasks
- Success is initially determined via URL validation.
- While URL validation accurately automates success validation, it can sometimes miss participants who succeed in the task, often because of the URL structure of the experience being tested or an error in the validation setup.
- URL Validation is optional, so some customers may choose not to use any success validation.
- Post-test success recoding allows for corrections to ensure accurate data.
Understanding success definitions
Three possible success definitions to address all scenarios:
- Success: Participant achieved the desired outcome.
- Non-Success: Participant did not achieve the intended result.
- Undefined: Success state is not applicable or cannot be determined
Impact of success recoding
Updates made to a participant's success value will:
- Reflect in the results feed.
- Update values in Filters and Excel Exports.
- Adjust top-line numbers and charts for the Navigation Task.
- Modify any QXscore task groups containing the Navigation Task.
Key considerations for success recoding
- Actions to recode success cannot be undone.
- Customers can change the success definition for a participant as many times as needed.
How to recode success
- Navigate to the Results page.
- Locate your Navigation task.
- Use the dropdown menu to Show behavioral results:
- Switch view from Chart to Responses.
- Identify the participant you want to recode success for and use the dropdown to view and change the Outcome.
