About screener pass rates

UserTesting helps teams get fast feedback. But sometimes, it can take longer for an audience to start taking a test. There can be many reasons for test sessions staying in pending status, but a common cause can be an issue with screener questions.

To help accelerate time to insight, the Platform automatically highlights screeners, slowing the recruitment process and allowing you to adjust the questions more quickly to meet business needs.

When we detect sessions are filling slowly, screener pass rates will automatically be provided to help identify the questions that could be the most significant barriers to recruitment. Here is guidance for troubleshooting screener questions to fill tests faster with your target audience.

Note: The number of screener questions you can use depends on your subscription. For more information, please see this article.

View and edit screener pass rates

To view and edit screener pass rates, follow these steps:

  1. After a number of contributors attempt to answer screener questions and some sessions are not filled out, a message will appear on the Sessions tab notifying you that additional pass rate information is available. Click Edit screener or View pass rates.

  2. On the next screen, view pass rates for each screener question. Adjust, remove, or broaden questions with low pass rates to include more potential contributors. Review screener tips or read the Screener Questions: Best Practices article for further guidance.

Steps for relaunching screeners

To relaunch updated screeners:

  1. Click Relaunch screener after making updates. A confirmation box will appear. Relaunching applies the updated screeners to contributors who have not attempted the previous version.

  2. Alternatively, create a similar test to launch new screeners for all potential contributors. Pass rates will reset and populate as attempts increase.
  3. You will return to the Sessions tab, where updates will reflect for new contributors attempting the test.
