At a Glance
You and your team will be gathering feedback across multiple tests. Your Dashboard is designed to help you easily build, launch, and manage all your tests in one place. A large number of functions are available on the Dashboard.

When you log in to your UserTesting account, you will land on your Dashboard.
The Navigation menu (to the left on a desktop view) contains a "workspace switcher" at the top that allows you to shift from one workspace or account to another. This Navigation menu also allows you to switch among tests, drafts, and highlight reels.
The global search bar located at the top of the Dashboard allows you to search multiple content types including tests, drafts, folders, and highlight reels within the workspace you're currently using.
The benefits of the global search bar include:
- Searching within a workspace for multiple content types and finding what you need in a single search.
- Extending the value of existing content by rediscovering tests and insights that already exist in your workspace.
- Making it easier for extended teams to find what they need without being familiar with the Platform.
The Navigation menu also provides quick access to test templates, the Template Library (see under Manage Templates), contributor networks (Favorite contributors and Custom Networks), and folder management for organizing tests and drafts.
A second search bar (1) is located at the top of the Tests, Drafts, and Highlight Reels pages. Use this search bar to find a specific asset within the workspace you're currently in—if you've selected the Tests page, for instance, the search function then looks through the tests for the name of the test you entered.
You can also sort tests by status (2) or test creator (3).
Once you've located the test you're searching for, click the three-dots next to the test. The drop-down menu that appears displays frequently used options that allow you to publish, share, and move a test, create a similar test, and export that test to Excel (in order to analyze the results).
When viewing drafts, the three-dots (ellipsis) menu allows you to move the draft to a different folder, duplicate it, share it, change the draft to a UserTesting Contributor Network test or Invite Network test, delete it, or convert the draft to a template.
If you need to complete a bulk action, such as moving multiple tests or drafts to a new folder, or duplicating or deleting the assets, select the checkbox next to the test or draft. A Select all checkbox allows you select all the assets all at once. Clicking on the ellipsis (three dots) reveals other actions, including a Move to... function for moving the assets to your intended destination.
To return to the previous page, select the Back button. To return to the homepage view of the Dashboard, select the UserTesting icon.
Viewing tests, drafts, and highlight reels in your workspace
Access the tests, drafts, and highlight reels in a workspace all in one place. Currently in beta, the Workspace page displays a tile-like view of tests, drafts, and highlight reels, displaying the most recently created or edited assets.
In the Navigation menu, select Workspace (beta) to see active tests and insights in a given workspace.
Switching accounts and workspaces
You may be assigned to more than one account in your Dashboard. This could happen if you had a proof of concept account prior to being assigned a full account, or perhaps you have a primary account and a team account.
Your account and the workspaces associated with it are in the Navigation menu. Also, the menu shows the contents of the workspace you are currently in. Using the workspace switcher allows you to switch to other accounts and workspaces. Those accounts and workspaces at the top of the menu are the ones most recently accessed.
Note: You cannot move drafts of tests between folders within the same workspace but not between accounts. So whenever you are starting work, check the switcher in the Navigation menu to confirm you are in the appropriate account.
You can access your account settings, as well as messages to your UserTesting account, through the initials button on the Dashboard. Click Settings to be taken to the Settings tab.
Create tests right from your Dashboard using the Create test button. A drop-down menu shows all the ways to create a test including an unmoderated test, a test from a template, or a Live Conversation with contributors.
Depending on your account, you may have access to one or more of these methods of launching a test.
Create an unmoderated test—Remote unmoderated testing is when contributors complete pre-determined and self-guided activities using a design or interface on their own, without a person moderating or overseeing the test. The contributor decides when and where they complete the test and uses an online tool (such as UserTesting) to participate, provide feedback, and record the session for your team to view later. Create a test from a template—Templates give you the ability to create and edit an unmoderated test plan designed with different insight-gathering purposes in mind. You can use a template created by UserTesting, or by you or someone on your team's account. To learn more about templates, review our "Using Templates" article. Other featured templates, such as Quick Answers templates, can also be accessed here.
Schedule a live conversation—the Platform's Live Conversation feature allows you to create and launch a live interview with recruited contributors or your own customers and review the results within hours. To learn more about this tool, read the "Live Conversation Overview" article.
- Upload a video—Store, edit, share, and consolidate other customer insights on your UserTesting Dashboard. Check out our "Video Upload" article to learn how to create clips, highlight reels, and more.
Viewing tests and drafts
The Dashboard lists each test as a single line item, including the number of sessions, test status, findings and results, and a note on how many videos are unwatched. This allows you to quickly scan through your tests and easily spot when new videos have come in.
Use the All statuses drop-down menu to filter tests by completion, new sessions, and problems.
When viewing drafts, you can use the All drafts drop-down menu to filter drafts by those that need approval and those that are approved. This applies if your account has access to Approval flow.
You can find and manage your folders in the Navigation menu. Folders that live within a selected workspace will show up here. When you click on a folder, the Dashboard view will update to show all the tests, drafts, and highlight reels in that folder.
To change a folder’s name or to delete a folder, select the folder you want, and then click the Actions button for the drop-down menu to Edit or Delete.
To add a new folder, click the “+” icon in the folders section of the Navigation menu.
Name your folder, and then select Create folder.
Templates are pre-built test plans that UserTesting has designed with industry best practices in mind. Your team can also build your own templates to share with people on your account.
To access the Template gallery, select Templates from the Navigation menu.
Filter by UserTesting templates, Account templates, or Personal templates. You can also search for templates by Categories, Featured templates, Methodology, Phase, Asset, and Role. To learn more about templates, see our article, “Using Templates.”
If available on your account, you will see the option to Manage Templates for test plans, audiences, screener questions, and Quick Answers in your Template Library. To learn more, see our article, “Template Access Control.”
Managing Contributor Networks
Find your Favorite contributors networks and Custom Networks when you click Contributor Networks under Library in the Navigation menu.
Finding Help Resources
If you need additional support and guidance, click the “?” button by the initials button. Choose either the Knowledgebase (help articles), UT University (live and on-demand courses), CommUnity (discussion forum and more), or Chat (ask a question) from the dropdown menu.
