The following is an example of the video player for a completed session. There are a number of features to allow you to view and share your video. (Note that some of these features require a UserTesting Pro subscription.)
Key features of the video player include:
Control the playback speed of your video incrementally up to 3.0x. This feature will save you time as you review videos. We recommend giving 1.6x a try and adjusting the speed as needed based on the participant.
Keyboard shortcuts allow you to access key features within the video player without having to move your hands from the keyboard. Notable shortcuts:
- Play / pause the video: Space
- Rewind 5 seconds: Left arrow <--
- Forward 5 seconds: Right arrow -->
- New note: n
- New clip: c
- Cancel note or clip: esc
- Save note or clip: enter
- Increase playback speed: >
- Decrease playback speed: <
Adding a bookmark to a video
One way to quickly review a UserTesting video is to watch it at high speed, flag the parts that sound insightful, and then go back and compile those moments into a video highlight reel.
To make the process even easier, you can add bookmarks to your UserTesting videos. Just press the ‘B’ key while the video is playing. The video will continue playing, but that point in the video will be flagged with a blank note for basic customers (if you purchase your tests individually), and premium subscription customers will receive a video clip that includes a transcription of the participant’s last two comments (via speech recognition*).
*Speech recognition for the bookmark feature is facilitated by a third party technology. If your company has expressed a concern to us about sending your UserTesting data through a third party, you’ll receive a blank note instead of the clip.
Share your video with colleagues and team members via email. Note: Your recipient doesn't need a UserTesting log in to view the video.
